    Payment Process

    Automatic Payments: If you are eligible, the Cold Weather Payment will be automatically paid into the same bank or building society account as your benefit payments.  

    Payment Timing: You should receive your payment within 14 working days of the end of the seven-day period of very cold weather.

    Scotland: The Cold Weather Payment scheme does not apply in Scotland. The Scottish Government has its own scheme to help households with heating costs during winter.

    Northern Ireland: A similar scheme to the Cold Weather Payment operates in Northern Ireland.
